Frequently Asked Questions
The Haslet Sports Association ("HSA") is an ALL VOLUNTEER, non-profit organization committed to providing our area's youth with a positive and rewarding youth sports experience. As a non-profit organization, though, we are continually in need of both financial (team sponsorships) and volunteer (administrative help) assistance. Please consider assisting us in assisting your child!
Currently HSA offers baseball and basketball for boys between the ages of 3 and 14 depending upon which sport they participate.
Currently HSA offers basketball, softball and volleyball for girls between the ages of 7 and 14; girls from 3-6 can participate in our co-ed honkball and t-ball programs.

Games are played on weekday evenings, Saturdays and rarely on Sunday afternoons if needed. Weekday games start at various times based upon the spring or fall season and Saturday games start as early as 8am. If needed, Sunday games start at 1pm.
Most HSA games are played at our two primary field locations, Nance Field and the fire station fields. Certain divisions play interlock games with other nearby area baseball associations and, as such, may require travel on a limited basis.
Practices are held both during the week and on the weekends (prior to the season starting). Currently weekday practice slots run from 5pm to 9:30pm and league provided locations are Nance Field, fire station game fields and fire station practice fields.
There is no guarantee your child will or will not practice on a specific day or time.
Yes, HSA does provide uniforms for all recreational players; for baseball that includes shirt, hat, belt and socks and for softball shirt, shorts, hat and socks. All Honk Ball players will be provided with baseball pants in addition to the rest of the provided uniform.
Fall baseball is instructional. Many kids go up and start to learn new rules and techniques ex: From T-Ball to Coach Pitch – learning how to hit thrown balls, From Coach Pitch to Kid Pitch – learning how to pitch, steal bases etc.
Spring ball is very competitive. The rec program still mandates that all kids play, Players and Coaches are playing for the league Championship and the chance to play for the All-Star team.
In fall – no - except for Honkball. In spring – yes – everyone will get a trophy.
Yes – Maybe – If it’s before coaches look / Draft yes but a late fee will be added. If after Coaches look / Draft, it will be a very limited basis. If 1 to 2 kids are needed to fill a team then yes. Once all teams are full then no exceptions. If everyone would register before Coaches look / Draft – we can add teams and coaches to make a bigger league. We are under a time crunch during the spring to get our uniform order in quickly so we have them for the first game so once uniforms have been ordered it becomes even more difficult to add players.
If he is good enough and will not pose a safety risk plus coaches would like for him / her to, we will allow. (This rule changed when PONY started to allow kids to play up)
Anyone who played rec ball at H.S.A during that season can try-out for All-Stars. It is up to the All-Star Head Coach on what players he will keep. All-Stars is extremely competitive and at additional cost.
It will be up to the Head Coach to let everyone know about try-outs and expectations, practice-times, tournaments etc.
